Packaging Technician Job Description

Department: Post-Production

Job Status: Full-Time; Non-Exempt

Direct Supervisor: Assistant Packaging Manager


The Packaging Technician is responsible for processing and packaging all cultivated cannabis programs as required. This position requires the use of various types of packaging equipment prior experience on which is recommended. Moreover, this position is responsible to maintain the packaging equipment for daily use, including cleaning and general equipment troubleshooting In addition the Packaging Technician needs to have a laser focus on plying their trade with accuracy and efficiency.



  • Oversee sourcing, planning, and execution of all events including trade shows, exhibitions, outings, conferences, and functions.

  • Involvement in recognizing unsafe conditions and practices, and propose corrections to prevent injuries and product loss

  • Provide necessary information to Supervisor on packaging performance and other issues

  • Develop understanding of business activities & needs. Make recommendations to align with priority business activities

Quality & Financial

  • Performs routine and safety program checks and preventive maintenance on instruments and devices used in production.

  • Complete checks on calibration and operation of trim equipment, bulk packaging equipment; cleaning of rooms and equipment between crops.

  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness to improve and promote product quality

  • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems with machine maintenance including faulty parts

  • Generate accurate packaging labels and conform to requirements regarding verification procedures as specified in standard operating procedures

People & Development

  • Assist peers and new hires in learning about the business and packaging process & equipment to enhance understanding a proficiency

  • Maintain high level of morale and enthusiasm to assist the team in the process and packaging processes


  • Involvement in recognizing unsafe conditions and practices, and propose corrections to prevent injuries and product loss

  • Comprehend and follow SOP’s related to safety, compliance, and packaging processes

  • Ensure all necessary documentation is kept in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with regulation.


  • Able to pay very close attention to detail

  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills

  • Ability to accomplish projects independently


  • High school diploma/GED required (Bachelor’s degree preferred)

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification a bonus

  • Basic understanding of mechanical packaging equipment

  • Working knowledge of basic computer functions including e-mail and spreadsheets


  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Willingness to work in enclosed rooms (labs) for long periods of time

  • Ability to work a fully flexible schedule including nights and weekends

  • Extensive use of hands, including repetitive movements
