Cultivation Technician Job Description
Job Status: Non-Exempt
Direct Supervisor: Assistant Cultivation Manager
The Cultivation Technician performs manual labor to assist in the upkeep, stocking, and fulfillment of growing medicinal cannabis, including, but not limited to; watering, feeding, flushing, pruning, washing, cloning, and transplanting under the supervision of the Assistant Cultivation Manager. Attention to detail is extremely important. The ideal candidate will excel as a team member within a tightly controlled, state regulated system and timelines.
Effectively communicate activities, and findings to area leadership
Help create a proactive and positive environment; a positive attitude and self-motivation to help produce high quality manicured product, while meeting and/or exceeding personal and/or company goals
Ability to be flexible and work in various sectors of the department as needed an/or requested by their direct supervisor; this may include but is not limited to, helping grow staff with small tasks, cleaning and/or moving supplies and equipment and/or helping the packaging department or working at other locations as needed.
Be a positive role model and demonstrate ethical behavior; build positive team relationships throughout your department and the rest of the organization
Quality & Financial
Tend to the plants including watering, re-potting, training, and movement of plant material and green waste
Reports to management any event or condition that might affect plant growth and development
Perform tasks related to sanitation, decontamination, propagation, transplantation, harvest, trimming, etc. in a highly productive and efficient manner to maximize yield
Performs regular quality assessments in all growth areas for signs of disease and/or infestation, and records data in master record
Assists in harvesting plant material on schedule including drying and de-stemming.
Wash and sanitize all equipment. Scout all equipment, ensuring all tools are free of pests, viruses or disease
People & Development
Continue education of marijuana strains, products, and the industry during downtime
Stay up to date and comply with all state and local cannabis laws and regulations
Adhere to all safety policies and wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
Comply with industry compliance standards set forth by the state of Massachusetts
Labels plants and ensures that an accurate inventory is maintained
Monitor plant pests and other perils, with a keen eye for spotting issues before they become a problem
Verify the proper documentation has been completed with accurate information for activities performed
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to multitask and pivot quickly
Demonstrate ownership, accountability, initiative and quality of work.
Skill in analyzing potential problems with a plant or the product being processed
Must work well with others
Adapt quickly to changes in policy, procedure, methods and techniques
High School Diploma. Bachelor's Degree or horticultural, technical certification preferred
Understanding of basic cultivation, horticulture, or agriculture
1+ years of live goods growing experience (preferred)
Experience with large scale, indoor grow operation
Knowledge of growing techniques, including; Germination, Cloning, and Transplantation
Basic computer skills, e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Able to lift up to 65 pounds and be able to maneuver between growing tables that are 24 inches apart and repeatedly carry 15-20 pounds the length of warehouse/greenhouse
Able to stand for extended periods of time, and kneel, stoop, bend, twist, in tight areas
Able to work in hot, humid environments for extended periods of time with exposure to dust, allergens, and water
Repetitive use of hands for all functions
Willingness to work rotating shifts with varied hours/day, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events
